About

Jee Won Kim is a composer based in the United States and South Korea. Her music explores the relationships between time, space, and perception, often drawing inspiration from literature, visual art, and architecture. She creates a personal sound world that extends beyond the auditory, inviting music to be seen, touched, and felt as much as it is heard.

She has collaborated with ensembles and artists including andPlay, Festino Chamber Choir, International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), Yarn/Wire, Unheard-of Ensemble, Studio Dan, Martin Schmeding, Josh Perry, Chris Gross, John Popham, Matti Pulkki, Ben Roidl-Ward, Clara Cho, Robert Wente, and Jixue Yang. Her work has been presented throughout the United States, Europe, and South Korea through concerts, festivals, and conferences dedicated to contemporary and experimental music.

Jee Won is the Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director of Overtuned Fest, a festival dedicated to collaborations between contemporary classical music and experimental rock, and also serves as Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director of ENAE, a collective of Korean women composers.
